Volunteer Drivers needed to help Matlock people get ‘out and about’

The Do Something Different Club is a club in the Matlock locality run solely by volunteers, giving people the chance to ‘get out and about’ who cannot easily attend regular lunch/social clubs due to limited mobility.

The Club aims to put isolated people in touch with each other so that they can talk – even if it is on the ‘phone – until the next meeting – these meetings are once a month.

The Do Something Different Club arranges a volunteer to collect people from their home and take them to a local venue, usually for a meal out, and the chance to socialise.

The club really needs volunteer drivers who are willing to collect people from their homes, drive them to the venue and stay and join in the activity, and then drive them home again.

Drivers need to be willing to be DBS checked, have a clean and current driving licence, to be sympathetic to people’s needs and to be willing to stay and participate – this might be having a pub meal which sadly due to lack of funds at present, you would have to pay for.

Petrol costs for drivers are reimbursed.
