Carolyn Walker

Carolyn Walker is our Project Worker for the Great Escape Project. The Great Escape Project is a programme commissioned by Derbyshire Dales Community Housing run in partnership with Derbyshire Dales CVS.

Carolyn previously worked as Signpost Project Worker (High Peak and Dales) working with children and families since April 2008. Prior to this she worked for Stockport NHS Trust in Care Coordinator working as Support Worker for children with complex health needs. She has always had a keen interest in caring for children. She had an eclectic and enjoyable career working with Deaf and Special Needs children in Newcastle and Manchester.

She worked for Manchester Hearing Impaired service supporting deaf young people as classroom support in schools across inner city Manchester. She has worked at the Northern Counties School for the Deaf in Newcastle. She gained her CACDP stage one Sign Language. Previously Carolyn has undertaken various Research roles for Northumbria Police working in Community Safety looking at the management of criminal information.

Carolyn has a First degree in Education, and Social Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Welfare and Social Work (University of Northumbria) at Newcastle. Carolyn has always had a fervent interest in psychology and has completed her Diploma in Counselling (University of Derby, Buxton) and is a fully qualified B.A.C.P Counsellor working towards accreditation.

Carolyn enjoys walking, keeping fit, going to the theatre and pop concerts when she has chance.
