Amazing Charity Fundraising Night on Hurst Farm!

Members of the Hurst Farm community in Matlock are celebrating this month following an amazing charity fundraising night held at the community-owned Social Club.

Local people, assisted by the Social Club committee, conducted a live-streamed 24 hour games marathon, playing pool, darts and dominoes across the weekend to raise money for charity. Two charitable causes that are very dear to local people – Alzheimer’s UK and Cancer Research – will be equal beneficiaries of the £3,681 that was raised.

Chris Holmes, director of the Social Club said, “it has been really inspiring how local people have come together to raise so much money for these important charity causes, despite current challenges like the pandemic”.

The Social Club is currently being completely renovated to add new multi-purpose community hub facilities including a cafe/restaurant & takeaway – providing something for everyone in the area. The hub will be useable for many different community needs including parent & toddler groups, coffee mornings, exercise classes, community cafe & music events. It’ll also be available to hire for private events & will open in March 2022.

This work is part of a wider regeneration programme assisted by many local partner organisations.
