Co-op Foundation – Space to Connect Grants Scheme
Space to Connect is a £1.6 million partnership between the Co-op Foundation and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DMCS). It builds on the commitment to unlock the potential of community spaces as part of the Government’s loneliness strategy. It was launched as part of Co-op’s Endangered Spaces campaign with Locality to protect, support and improve 2,000 community spaces by 2022.
There are two strands of funding:
- Enhance – grants of between £30,000 and £50,000 for organisations that are already using a community space in an innovative and creative way, and that want to expand activities and embed sustainable ways of working to build a more secure future. Revenue and capital funding are available. The total budget for this strand is £400,000, and it is expected that around 8 to 12 grants will be awarded. The deadline for applications is noon on 31 July 2019.
- Explore – grants of up to £10,000 for organisations that want to start exploring ways that local challenges could be addressed through better use of space, and/or identify potential spaces that could be opened up to community use. Revenue funding only is available. The total budget for this strand is £480,000.The deadline for applications is 12 noon 12 August 2019.
