Helping Others – Connex Volunteers
Connex Community Support continues to provide bespoke practical and emotional support to anyone who needs it during this time.
“We are still accepting referrals to help with shopping, prescription delivery and telephone/video support (whilst face-to-face support remains on hold) thanks to our fabulous Home from Hospital, Readycall and Transport Volunteers. We hope to be able to provide limited one-to-one transport to urgent medical appointments in June, however we are not able to provide socially distanced transport at this moment in time.
As we move into week 10 of lockdown, we are particularly conscious of those shielding or self-isolating. We are therefore delighted to have started distributing 200 ‘Seeds of Hope’ packs across the Dales, thank you to the generosity of Age UK Derby and Derbyshire. These packs contain a little growing pack with calendula seeds and mindfulness activities. We hope to be delivering more nurturing and mindful treats during June.
As we approach June, we are looking forward to Volunteers Week (more to follow) and are phoning everyone who offered support through the CRU to see whether they would like to continue to volunteer in the future with organisations and community interest groups across the Dales.”
