Hate Crime Awareness sessions

Disability Direct have been funded by the Office and Police Crime Commissioner to provide Hate Crime Training across Derbyshire.  Disability Direct aim to train organisations in hate crime awareness throughout every town and village of Derbyshire

The training can either be delivered to a large audience in which the trainer will deliver a key note message to 25 members of staff or more, or through smaller groups which allows for questions and a deeper analysis of the issues surrounding Hate Crime.

The Topics covered include:

  • Definition of hate crime/incidents
  • Key characteristics of hate crimes
  • Strands covered under hate crimes and how they are recorded by different police forces
  • The forms what hate crimes can take
  • The effects hate crimes can have on victims
  • Potential barriers which prevent people from reporting
  • The national picture (how big of a problem is hate crime)
  • The support hate crime victims need
  • How to spot hate crime
  • How to report hate crime
