Our Trustee, Anthony Godbehere says; ‘My first 8 years of work as an engineering draughtsman was a boring experience, so I decided to look for a job, in financial services because the job came with a car, a much better prospect.’
He ended up doing over 40 years service in insurance companies and investment companies, with the last 20 in his own practice and he retired in 2005.
Anthony now spends most of his time, around Bakewell, looking for inspiration for watercolour paintings and musical compositions.
Anthony’s connection with DDCVS was just over 10 years ago; he and another composer, Mike Evans, had a £200 grant to create musical opportunities for composers, singers, and musicians in north Derbyshire.
Anthony remembers; ‘We recorded local composers and singers and musicians and created a local radio station and our recordings were broadcast all over the world! Over 200 were recorded in The Wheatsheaf, The Town Hall, and Whitworth Hall rooms. Not one person had to pay, and both Mike and I subsidised the entire creative opportunity. Eventually, we could not continue. But the local Derbyshire musicians and composers are still around. One day one of us will have a million seller…’
